Island Hoops is a new organization with significant expenses, that is entirely volunteer-run. As such, the following policy allows us to operate our programs in a fiscally responsible way.
(1) Refunds are not offered by Island Hoops Basketball Society ("IHBS") except for in the following circumstances:
(a) A refund option is explicitly stated in the registration or payment process, or
(b) The participant requests a refund in writing and a director of IHBS approves the refund.
(2) Requests for refunds under (1)(b) above are expected to be due to extenuating and unexpected circumstances. Examples of extenuating and unexpected circumstances include but are not limited to: family emergencies, serious injury or illness, or moving out of the greater Victoria area.
(3) The following are not considered extenuating and unexpected circumstances for the purposes of (1)(b) above:
(a) a change of work or school commitments,
(b) childcare challenges, or
(c) encountering transportation barriers.
(4) IHBS reserves the right to issue full or partial refunds, at their sole discretion, based on the specific situation of the request (including but not limited to how much of the program has already elapsed, whether there is a waitlist for the program, etc.).
(5) All refunds are subject to a $20.00 administration fee. This means that refunds are not offered for payments less than $20.00, regardless of the circumstances.
(6) Due to limitations in our financial software and to reduce administrative burden on volunteer organizers, IHBS reserves the right to issue refunds by Interac e-transfer, regardless of initial payment method.
