code of conduct

Players, coaches, officials, organizers, volunteers, and anyone they invite or bring with them (hereinafter referred to as “Attendees”) commit to upholding Island Hoops Basketball Society's ("IHBS") values of supporting physical, mental, emotional, and cultural well-being by complying with following Code of Conduct while at all IHBS programs and on all IHBS online platforms:

(1) Attendees will engage in controlled physical contact within the rules of the game, when safe and when appropriate, and will avoid dangerous or excessively risky plays.

(2) Attendees will not show up impaired or bring alcohol, cannabis or other recreational drugs to our programs.

(3) Attendees will not engage in harassing behaviour towards other Attendees. Harassing behaviour includes but is not limited to verbal,  sexual or or physical assault, and may occur online, in person or anywhere else.

(4) Attendees will not express any forms of racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, or other forms of bigotry.

(5) IHBS strives to create an environment free of colonialist language, gender norms and other constructs that harm marginalized groups. Attendees are expected to make good-faith efforts to support this environment.

Attendees who do not abide by this Code of Conduct at Island Hoops Basketball Society’s programs may be told to leave without compensation, refund or reimbursement.
